Anvil at Convention 2025
Anvil Chorus on stage at the 2025 Convention in Bournemouth

Anvil Chorus is the performing arm of the West Midlands Barbershop Harmony Club (WMBHC). It's a group of male singers who perform in the barbershop style, known for its rich four-part harmonies. The club, which is a registered charity, also offers singing classes and welcomes visitors to their rehearsals, which are held every Tuesday evening at Beacon Church Pheasey in Birmingham.

  • What we do: Anvil Chorus sings a cappella (unaccompanied) in the barbershop style, focusing on close-harmony arrangements.
  • Who We are: We are a group of approximately 30 singers, and also have quartets within the club, all of whom can be booked for events.
  • Where We perform: Primarily around the West Midlands region but we also compete nationally.
  • Charity work: Anvil Chorus is a registered charity and we raise money for other charities.
  • Rehearsals: Open to the public and potential new members. We rehearse every Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM at Beacon Church Pheasey, Collingwood Dr, Birmingham B43 7JL.
  • Not theatrical or theological: The focus is solely on the music and the barbershop style.
  • Welcoming to visitors: They encourage people to visit their rehearsals, with no obligation to join.
